FAQs

What does Bizbots do?
We build online double-sided exchange solutions. Our solutions offer real-time dynamic pricing that —until now— was only available on sophisticated financial exchanges. Our solutions supply net market hosts with the infrastructure to build high-performance, reliable and highly scalable online exchanges. And they also provide buyers and sellers greater price transparency, immediacy and value-added services than either auctions or e-procurement systems.

I understand the "Biz" in Bizbots. But what's the "Bots"?
Bots are electronic agents. Like robots, they automate tasks, save time and cut costs. Our agent-enabled marketplace engine lets buyers and sellers create agents that perform time-saving functions for them. For instance, a buyer might create an agent to automatically search for orders of a certain price, or to notify her when it makes a match. Bizbots has patent-pending technologies that will permit even more sophisticated agent functions to improve users' online transaction experiences.

What exactly is a double-sided exchange, and how does it differ from an auction?
Auctions and double-sided exchanges are quite different.
To understand the difference, think about financial markets. They started out using classified ads to sell securities and then evolved into Wall Street auctions. In the mid 1800s, the New York Stock Exchange outgrew the cumbersome auction techniques and developed the real-time trading techniques that we now associate with the stock market. This technological breakthrough was called the continuous double-sided exchange, because it allowed bidders and sellers to dynamically float their price quotes. Today, these exchanges offer far more price transparency than auctions. Stock prices respond immediately to events in the industry or world. Market buyers and sellers can obtain or sell their products in a shorter timeframe.

What is the Bizbots agent-enabled marketplace?
The Bizbots agent-enabled marketplace is the Bizbots exchange engine that powers our overall solution. Our technology is highly scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant. It provides high-performance and mission-critical availability to net market hosts and end-users.

What benefits does Bizbots exchange engine deliver?
The Bizbots exchange engine offers buyers and sellers a trading experience that mirrors their offline experience. For instance, it lets them access historical and current market details to make more informed trades. Plus, they can base their trades on variables specific to their industry. When our exhange engine finds there is not a perfect match for a trade, it allows the users to negotiate in real-time. They can even check each other's reputation via our reputation server.

What value-added services are integrated with Bizbots exchange solution?
Bizbots is partnering with industry-leading companies to integrate credit check, payment, shipping and other services. These services enable one-stop trading for net market buyers and sellers.

Is Bizbots exchange marketplace easy to use?
Yes, that is one of Bizbots' strengths. Buyers and sellers learn to use our exchange engine quickly and intuitively. With standard browsers like Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator, they access the exchange application server via HTTP requests. Bizbots powered exchanges are easily customizable.

What industries use the Bizbots exchange solution?
The Bizbots agent-enabled marketplace is appropriate for any industry where commodity or near-commodity products and services are bought and sold. Trading rules and trading instrument characteristics can be easily tailored to match an industry's vocabulary, practices and trading dimensions. Our solutions are currently being developed for financial services, chemicals, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, high technology distribution, telecommunications, small business and professional services.

How can I integrate Bizbots' solutions with our existing business processes?
Bizbots' partnerships are an important aspect of its exchange solution. Our strategic relationships with leading consulting and integration firms let companies rapidly integrate Bizbots exchange solution into their business processes and functions.

What is the Universal Marketplace?
The Universal Marketplace is our vision for the evolution of B2B e-commerce. It's an open exchange that allows buyers and sellers to seamlessly trade across different net markets. The Universal Marketplace Architecture is our proposed Internet standard for an XML, agent-based communications library to help enable the Universal Marketplace. Bizbots, CommerceNet and many other organizations are currently working to develop and promote Universal Marketplace standards.
