Venturewire, San Francisco, April 26, 2000

Bizbots, a developer of business-to-business Internet commerce technology, said it raised the first part of an expected $12 million staged first round. The round is being funded by eCompanies, Wells Fargo & Co. and another unnamed institutional investor. Martin Gates, a manager with Wells Fargo Strategic Investments, and eCompanies general partner Timothy M. Spicer, will join the Bizbots board of directors.

The company expects to close the round by June and will use the funds for expansion of its trading engine.
